oFb - der onlineFragebogenoFB – der onlineFragebogen is a really great solution for conducting online surveys. But sadly it is until now only documented in german – we hope that will change in future! :-)

For many researchers the web is not a place to collaborate, but to gather data. Online questionnaires are sometimes a valuable alternative to paper-pencil measures. Limesurvey is one of the most widely used programs to design online-questionnaires.

… refreshingly easy and free

Once it is set up (= copied to a php-server and connected to a mysql database) it provides a graphical backend interface that admins can use to enter questions and edit the design. All major question-types are possible.

The features I like most are:

  • multilingual interfaces/Questionnaires
  • The export features and most of all to R!
  • The large number of users and active contributors
  • open and closed questionnaires
